Manta Reef Lodge, Pemba
Manta Reef Lodge is situated on the northern tip
of Pemba island, on a lagoon with breathtaking views over the ocean!
It is an one hours drive from the airport to the lodge. The rustic,
but attractive lodge can host only up to 30 people in 14 bungalows,
and the property offers an exclusive location off the beaten track,
in a stunning hideaway. The lodge offers a wide variety of watersports,
and especially keen divers find here the perfect spot to explore
the underwater world of Pemba, which is one of the best diving spots
in the world!
There are 2 Honeymoon bungalows,10 Sea
front bungalows and 2 Garden family cottages with 2 bedrooms in
each.
The sea front bungalows are perched on wooden decks, directly open
to the sea, with stunning views of the Indian Ocean. Each bungalow
has enormous 50 square meters, with large beds, mosquito nets, verandah
couch, chairs and en suite bathroom with hot and cold water. The
décor is rather plain and simple, but the rooms are very
comfortable.
Meals are served in a dining area under a huge,
makuti thatched roof, with a verandah facing the sea, and combine
African, European and Indian flavours highlighting the fabulous
fresh local seafood. There is a well stocked beach bar with a variety
of soft drinks, beers, liquors and South African wines.
Diving
Pemba Island and its reefs are known as the best diving
in Eastern Africa, with an unparalleled variety of hard and soft
corals and diversity of tropical fish. There are a large variety
of dive sites for beginners and experienced divers, from drift dives,
to wall dives, shallow reefs to deep trenches. One Earth Diving
offers great diving for advanced and novice divers in safety under
professional instruction. The reliable dive center offers PADI courses,
with many different day trips individually tailored and priced for
all levels of experience. All equipment is available for rent individually
or as a complete set.
